Zambia Hearing Disability Improvement Project.

Zambia Hearing Disability Improvement Project is a Hearing Charity providing audiometric services to vulnerable people in Kitwe, Zambia.

Zambia has a hearing loss prevalence rate of 6% of the total population. The City of Kitwe is the second largest City in Zambia by Population.

Kitwe’s 2024 population is now estimated at 792,350.

These population estimates and projections come from the latest revision of the UN World Urbanization Prospects. At 6% National hearing loss prevalence, it is estimated that there are about 47,541 people living with various forms of hearing loss in Kitwe out of which about 19,000 are economically vulnerable and cannot afford the costs associated with screening and testing for hearing loss.

In addition, they cannot afford the cost of hearing aids.

Since March 2023,ZAHDIP has provided free and affordable hearing aids to 102 vulnerable people living with various forms of hearing loss.

The Bath SpecSaver store staff in the United Kingdom and the Bath Rotary Club have partnered with ZAHDIP by providing hearing aids to the charity.
